HL7 Australia is a not-for-profit, membership-based organization that supports the creation and effective use of e-health standards in Australia. It is the local affiliate of HL7 International, a global standards organisation, which produces HL7 standards to facilitate interoperability and improve the capability of health information systems. The Executive Officer (EO) is a key leadership role reporting directly to the HL7 Australia Board. The primary role of the EO is the development of HL7 Australia to meet its vision. The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in leading this development Australia-wide. It is a challenging role, which encompasses strategic leadership, and business development.

The EO is responsible for contributing to HL7 Australia business planning, in particular working to achieve an increased HL7 Australia profile and development of core activities Australia-wide. The role encompasses responsibility for generating and responding to opportunities to develop core business, and building membership and services.
The role includes:
  • Increase the profile and effectiveness of HL7 Australia both in meeting the needs of members and the health standards community
  • Maintain and expand relationships that establish and maintain sponsorship arrangements to build HL7 Australia’s financial base in support of its objectives
  • Developing and implementing innovative business development strategies, and establish business processes to ensure high quality member services and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Identify, develop and implement commercial opportunities that support HL7 Australia’s vision, mission and values
Essential criteria include:
  • Strong experience in health or information technology sector
  • Experience in, marketing, media management, communications, business development and/or financial management
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline
  • Experience in a not for profit or peak body environment or a small business operating across diverse locations, is highly desired
  • Proven business development planning and success
  • Ability to work autonomously to Board policy
